Digital resurrection & Holographic Performance
With “Holographic Performance” we define the new language which is emerging in the scope of figurative arts, entertainment and communication, which is characterized mainly by as a “realistic illusion”.
The result which we try to reach is to render an holographic image, which is not distinguishable from reality. This characterization is typical in the usage of holography, and is based on the principle which uses the medium as a representation mean of something that actually does not exist, and is layered with real life elements; for this reason, we can refer to it as an Augmented Reality technique, perceived by the spectator in a context which we may define “Holographic Scenography”. The holographic performance’s actor is called Synthespian, Virtual Actor, or Cyberstar… With Digital resurrection and holographic performance it is possible now bring stars back to life, acting or live performing again.
The end does not have to be the end, because digital resurrection is just the beginning. Using digital tools and creativity, icons of the past can return that surprise come back show. Because it is now possible to create a life-like recreation of a star capable of addressing the audience, moving around stage and even interacting with others with pre-scripted effects. The benefits of digital resurrection are clear; for fans, sharing an amazing experience and witnessing their idols again, is a unique opportunity. For the holders of estates, artists increase in popularity, after they pass, business opportunities are huge. Holographic performance can open up a world of creativity and imagination.
This will be the platform where holographic science can thrive and continue to evolve. By creating a digital resurrection of virtual celebrities, fictional pop-stars, the possibilities are endless, and the only limitations are what creativity, know-how and technology are capable of. |
